Creating Custom Dashboards

Episode 4 of the "How to Zoined" series

Written by Zoined

In this episode, Sasa walks through how to build and customise dashboards in the Zoined platform.

You’ll learn how to:

• Duplicate and customise existing dashboards

• Implement heatmaps

• Use dual-axis charts for deeper insights

Create a Dashboard

Step 1: Create a New Dashboard

Create a new dashboard by selecting New Dashboard from the + menu. Enter a title, choose the dashboard visibility (User, Team, Company, or Partner).

Step 2: Configure Global Dashboard Filters

Before adding any visualizations, configure the dashboard's global filters.

These filters define the default settings that apply to every component added to the dashboard, including:

  • Time period

  • Comparison period

  • Metrics

  • Metric type

  • Like for Like

  • Business hours

  • Organization, Product, Customer, Supplier, and other filter categories

Using global filters keeps all dashboard components synchronized by default.

Step 3: Add a Dashboard Component

Click Add Component (+) to build your dashboard.

You can either:

  • Create a brand-new visualization, or

  • Embed an existing report you've already created.

Each component behaves similarly to creating a report.

Step 4: Configure the Component

Each dashboard component has its own configuration.

Choose:

  • Metrics

  • Grouping

  • Sorting

  • Visualization settings

  • Component title

Unlike the dashboard's global filters, component filters only affect the selected visualization.

This allows different components on the same dashboard to display different subsets of data while the rest of the dashboard continues using the global filters.

For example:

  • Dashboard: Year-to-Date Sales

  • Component A: Supplier = Adidas

  • Component B: Supplier = Nike

Both components still use the dashboard's Year-to-Date period but display different suppliers.

Note that when you configure the component filters, the Restore defaults button will be visible, when you click that button, it will reset to the global filter that you configure for the dashboard.

Dashboard components can be displayed in different widths depending on how much space they need:

  • Full Width (1/1) – spans the entire row.

  • Half Width (1/2) – allows two components per row.

  • One Third (1/3) – allows up to three components per row.

  • One Quarter (1/4) – allows up to four components per row.

Choosing the appropriate width helps create a balanced dashboard and makes the most important visualizations stand out while fitting more insights onto a single screen.

Step 6: Build Your Dashboard

Continue adding more components until your dashboard contains all the information you need.

To save time, you can duplicate existing components and simply change their filters or metrics instead of recreating them.

This is especially useful when comparing:

  • Different suppliers

  • Stores

  • Regions

  • Categories

Step 7: Save the Dashboard

When you're satisfied with the layout, click Save.

Your dashboard will be available according to its selected visibility:

  • User Dashboard → My Analytics

  • Team Dashboard → Team Analytics

  • Company Dashboard → Company Analytics

  • Partner Dashboard → Analytics Library / Partner section

Step 8: Open and Manage Your Dashboard

Open your dashboard from the left navigation menu.

From the dashboard toolbar you can:

  • Edit the dashboard

  • Duplicate it

  • Make it a default dashboard

  • Delete it

  • Share it using a public link

  • Download it

Duplicating is an easy way to create similar dashboards for different users, stores, or business areas.

You can also edit global filter by clicking Filters button, and also edit each components by clicking the edit button located on the upper right.
